it's cheap, and staff their are quite friendly.
there is a strange smell in my room. the toilet doesn't flash.
The central location is good and being able to park the car in a garage was a bonus. It is also very good value for money at £28 for bed and breakfast.
When I arrived at the time I had indicated they seemed unaware that I was coming. I had to produce the print out of the booking I had taken with me. This was removed from me without comment, and the landlady disappeared into a side room before emerging a few minutes later with the card machine. After the money had been debited I was handed the keys and told the room was upstairs, there was no welcome and it was easy to feel I was no more than a nuisance. The room itself was large with three single beds and it was very comfortable. It was odd however that the sink in the room (the toilet was on the landing outside) did not have a plug!
It was very messy. The general ambiance of the place was not good. the room was clean but not nicely decorated. An old razor and toothbrush left in the bathroom for instance. The landings were full of boxes and, worryingly the fire extinguisher outside our room was taped up!
As a B&B it did the job and has internet link, Breakfast id included in price.
Parking is about 100m away. Road outside has double yellow lines so a single traveller may have problems if having much or bulky luggage. Also steep path up from roadway could be a problem for tose with disabulities. Not suitable for the disabled.
Comfortable room. dining room and breakfast very good.
You do not say about the guest house being on three floors with lots of stairs, also it is up a hill, very good for young ones but people over a certain age not suitable.
Very hard to find anything best... It had a fridge and ironing board on landing which was usefull.
No plug in basin in room. Loads of dust behind bed and on top of cupboards. Man being sick in shared bathroom and making loads of noise.... (I used the bathroom on other side of landing.) Fight in street at 1 in morning, followed by another later (area?). No parking. not welcomed on arrival, not sure if expected.. Money to pay was priority. Told check out was 10.00am on my printout said 10.30am. I did not Take breakfast.
Friebdly manager, very central, nice breakfast, relaxed and informal
myself and 2 sons stayed @ the guest house for 2 nights . the owner was very pleasant and helpful . it was a nice stay though rooms were chilly . my only complaint was that the quilts could of been thicker and warmer but overall it was fine
confortability and good price
use another washing ingridients for the Bedsheet set to give better saint.
The room we stayed in was quite large which was good. the location to the town was really good with only a 15 minutes walk.
well many taxi drivers did not know where the hotel was until you told them the road name. and also that the cleaning maid had told us that we had to leave to clean our room before we were able to use the showers. so we were quite disappointed.
The thing that really struck me is the friend and homely atmosphere at the guesthouse. The staff was welcoming and hospitable, beyond what one would normally find at such places. They were also accommodating, making sure I did not feel out of place in a new city. I would recommend this place to anyone travelling out to Coventry !!! Thumbs up, Highcroft !!!
the sky box didnt stay on, and the doors slamming could be heard all over the building
Personal approach of the landlady. She made me feel well looked after. You don't always get that in big hotels.
it's location is very close to the shopping center and very easy to get taxi and bus; good services, especially for the breakfast;
the room at the 3rd floor is too small for 2 persons
The bed was a good size and the room clean and comfortable
Far and away it was down to the landlady which stopped me giving this guest house a higher rating..I was met with probably the least welcoming attitude that I have ever come across in many years of staying at guest houses all over the UK. The cooked breakfast was tiny and low quality and I had to remind her before I left that she still owed me change from the previous day. I do realise that it was a budget B&B, but all the same what price a smile and proper welcome? Do not stay more than one night if you are considering this place- you'll end up starving and miserable!
